The website i09 recently posted a list of the ten greatest science fiction and fantasy jail breaks, and Dan and Rob both took great umbrage with it. So, both brothers created their own top ten lists, and they compare them in this episode. Also, for you viewing pleasure, here is the album cover for Whipped Cream and Other Delights:

  1. “The Borders of Infinity” by Bujold IS awesome. :) The first line is, “How could I have died and gone to hell and never noticed the transition?”

And the hero masterminds the whole prison break from within the prison (or, at least, a new version of the prison break) and manages to communicate his plan to his embedded agents who are watching on the security cameras without ever looking like he’s actually planning a prison break. Lots of conversations with double meanings. It’s awesome.

    (Also very Dante-esque.)

Thanks for the dedication. I feel so special. *sniffle*

What memories you bring back with the posting of that album cover! My mom and dad had it and we played it all the time! Despite the “naughty” cover! :) Awesome.

  4. TW says:

The rescue of Leia in Star Wars wasnt a prison break…

Since the “escape” was part of the Empire’s plan.

For the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban prison break I assume they are referring to is the end of the book/movie when Harry and Hermione have to time travel back to save Buckbeak and fly up to the tower to rescue Sirius before the minister and Snape bring the Dementors to suck out his soul.

Also, being the DS9 fan that I am, I always want to use examples from it, and the one that comes to mind is Bashir, Garak, Worf, and Martok escaping from the Dominion prison. I love Garak more than any other TV character, and his claustrophobia makes that escape a huge victory.

Aaaaand I was wrong! I just looked at the list and it did describe the break out from Azkaban as a great escape, which is crap cause it’s not even the best escape in the book.
